New for 2007:
Now offering a Preschool Winter Program:

"Winter Wonders"
(pre-k): 45 minutes (no snowshoes)

You can never be too young to explore nature in winter! The Winter Wonders hike is a fun way to combine nature exploration, physical exercise and animal adaptations. Before setting out for a hike, a fun nature story will introduce pre-schoolers to the ways animals adapt to winter. During the hike students will explore their surroundings in search of any winter wonders they can find.  We will learn to make tracks, find food and look for shelter just like the animals do!

Knee-High Naturalist Discovery Box

The popularity of our Knee-High Naturalist Programs inspired the creation of a box of environmental education resource materials geared for the 3-6 year old. Full of books, activities, and ideas to help inspire your youngest naturalists, we are looking for feedback from educators who use it. Check out our full list of Discovery Boxes!

Nature Paks

Nature Paks were added in summer 2004. Nature Paks are backpacks full of easy, fun nature activities for families, teachers, grandparents, mentors, babysitters, and childcare groups to explore nature with their favorite kids. Materials work best on preserves or at local natural areas and parks, but they are also perfect for your very own backyard. The Paks were designed to make learning about and teaching nature simple and fun. To borrow a Nature Pak, call the Conservancy office to see if one is ready for loan. Paks are available on a 3-day loan period. If a pak is available, just stop by the Conservancy and yours will be waiting for you to sign out! Conservancy office: 231-347-0991, open 8-5 Monday through Friday.
