Conservancy Helps Local Government
One of the most popular and productive aspects of the Conservancy’s land protection program is our work with local units of government interested in obtaining land for parks or nature preserves. The Board of Trustees has for years pursued a policy of making our staff available to assist local governments who need administrative or technical help in acquiring land or obtaining funding for land acquisitions which are generally consistent with the Conservancy mission.
Over the years, we have helped local and state governmental units acquire more than 640 acres of natural and recreational land valued at over $12 million. We currently have projects pending which will more than double this acreage and add $5.5 million to the total value of land acquired for public recreation, nature study and enjoyment!
