Her first book, Gathering Moss: A Natural and Cultural History of Mosses ( https://osupress.oregonstate.edu/book/gathering-moss ), was awarded the John Burroughs Medal for outstanding nature writing, and her other work has appeared in Orion, Whole Terrain, and numerous scientific journals.
