We are excited to welcome our new Land Protection Specialist, Becky Wadleigh, to the Little Traverse Conservancy! Originally from Racine, Wisconsin, Becky has received both her undergraduate and Master’s Degrees in Natural Resource Planning from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Her graduate research combined GIS analyses with social assessments of forest landowners to improve forest conservation planning in Wisconsin. Becky is excited to have the opportunity to use her results to foster positive relationships with landowners through LTC! Between degrees, Becky interned and worked for the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust in southeast Wisconsin, observing firsthand the positive influence that land trusts and conservancies can have in the communities they serve: it was love at first land project. While in school, Becky was an active volunteer with the North Central Conservancy Trust in Stevens Point. Having grown up within miles of Lake Michigan, Becky is passionate about conservation in the Great Lakes region and making nature accessible and exciting to everyone. Becky enjoys hiking, trail-running, snowshoeing, reading, watching the Green Bay Packers, and canoeing. She is looking forward to seeing more of what Michigan has to offer!
