Artist Emma Steinkraus has always been interested in depictions of nature. Her paintings and installations often feature plants and animals. Her current passion is for the historical contributions women have made to botanical art and scientific illustration. As a Good Hart artist-in-residence, Steinkraus is creating a large installation that highlights work by almost a hundred different female artist-naturalists who worked before the 20th century. Join her for an artist talk about the development of her work, her interest in ecology, and the often overlooked contributions women artists have made to natural history. Little Traverse Conservancy and Crooked Tree Arts Center are co-sponsoring Emma through her Good Hart artist-in-residency in August.
