Dave Irish was one of Little Traverse Conservancy’s original founders. Along with other forward thinking people from our community, Dave saw the importance of balancing development of northern Michigan, with conserving it. His vision lives on.

In Dave’s memory, a new 60-acre nature preserve has been established just outside of Harbor Springs. If you are reading this, it is likely you know the land which lies along 2,000 feet of State Road (see map). An iconic farm field, rolling hills, and a few majestic maples stand out in your view. 

What was for years a farm field will be actively restored as a native meadow, hardwood forest, and oak savanna, beginning in the fall of 2022. All those who stepped forward to support this project are keeping Dave’s spirit and vision alive by continuing the work in which he so deeply believed.
