Wild Wednesday at Charlevoix Library: Life Under the Snow
Date
- Mar 11 2026
Time
- 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Location
Join us at the Charlevoix Public Library for an evening exploring the secret lives unfolding beneath the snow. We’ll uncover the subnivean world, the narrow space between snow and soil where small mammals, insects, and plants survive the long Northern Michigan winter, and where predators rely on this hidden layer for hunting and shelter. Together, we’ll look more closely at how snow acts as insulation, why this fragile winter habitat matters, and what happens when winter conditions change. This all-ages program is designed for anyone curious about the natural world around us, even when it’s out of sight. Registration is not necessary.
