2023 BioBlitz Diversity Week
Thursday through Sunday, July 6-9

Let’s celebrate the diversity of life while we explore, discover, and get inspired outdoors during the 2023 BioBlitz!

What is a BioBlitz? Over the course of the week, we invite you to visit one or many of the Little Traverse Conservancy’s protected properties to observe as many living creatures as you can, from the common northern white cedar tree to the spotted salamander.

We will kick off the week with a field trip guided by Ecology Specialist Brad Von Blon to the Sally and Jack Clark Nature Preserve near North Central Michigan College in Petoskey on July 6 at 9am. With Brad’s help and the use of the iNaturalist app, we will document as many different kinds of life as possible! The Clark Preserve features a lush wetland and many native meadow plants that provide food and habitat for birds, bugs, and amphibians. We will bring along equipment to observe, measure, and identify anything & everything we can find. Please meet at the northeast end of the NCMC lots on Atkins Road. For the rest of the weekend, you are invited to explore on your own! Visit www.inaturalist.org/pages/video+tutorials to learn how to use the iNaturalist smartphone app and set up an account before the field trip and BioBlitz!
