Join our volunteer ambassador Richard Jenkins to fill the woodshed at the cabin on the
Agnes S. Andreae Nature Preserve. Enjoy a fall day keeping warm by moving your
body and helping promote conservation. If you have never visited this preserve, it is one
of the most popular places – this is your perfect chance. Bring the family and work for
an hour or until you tire out, then join on a guided hike or explore on your own.
What will I be doing? We will be loading pre-split wood into trucks to drive down to the
woodshed where a few people will be stacking wood.
Why are we doing this? This beautiful cabin along the Pigeon River is open for non-
profit groups and scout troops year-round. It gets most of its use in winter! This is a
workday where families of all ages are welcome and encouraged.
What do I need to bring? We will provide gloves and snacks, you bring the positive
attitude and strong arms. Please bring a water bottle and wear sturdy closed-toed
shoes and long pants.
Are there bathrooms? A rustic outhouse is available on site.
Can I hike the trails also? If you are interested in exploring the trails, Richard will lead
a hike to the Nature Megaphone following the work bee. It is about a one mile fairly
easy walk and meanders along and above the wild and scenic Pigeon
River.https://landtrust.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Agnes-S-Andreae-Nature-
Preserve-Nature-Megaphone.pdf
What do I need to do before I go? Please complete our volunteer waiver once
annually.
