Trail Description
Roughly four miles of trails that connect to the trails of the Boyd B. Banwell and Agnes S. Andreae preserves for a total of more than 10 miles of connected trail.
History
Long held and maintained as a hunting getaway, Little Traverse Conservancy purchased this land in 2023. Stuart and Patty Bishop gave the lead gift to name the reserve in memory of Stuart's parents. Many families in the local Columbus Beach Club joined the effort to ensure the property's immediate trail and ecological care and long-term investment in its stewardship.

ADDRESS: 1093 Ostrander Road, Afton, MI 49705 - From Indian River, travel 6 miles east on M-68 to Quarry Road, a dirt road. Turn left (north) and travel for two miles to W. Ostrander Road. Turn left (west) and parking area will be .2 mile down on the left (south) side of the road.
CONNECTED TRAILS
The L. John and Helen Bishop Working Forest Reserve is part of a preserve/reserve complex that now includes more than 10 miles of connected trails with beautiful views along the Pigeon and Little Pigeon rivers.
Four parking areas can give you access to these trails. In the winter, the most recommended access is off of M-68. This is also the quickest access to the Nature Megaphone (see below).
The dashed marks on the map indicate trails that are groomed in the winter.
