Can you believe it?

30 years ago an inspired group of young people who loved northern Michigan got together to create a little event known as “Save the Trees”. Today, we have raised nearly $900,000 for land conservation through “Trees”. We hope you will join us on the 30th anniversary to help Little Traverse Conservancy protect the north country we all love.

Come and enjoy…

Sponsors have especially helped us get to this 30th anniversary milestone and plant countless trees along the way.

This year the Conservancy is beginning a massive undertaking to plant thousands of trees throughout the north to reforest the open lands in the Conservancy’s care. It is fitting that this effort falls around the “Trees” anniversary. Will you join us this year as a generous sponsor of our 30th event? As a sponsoring donor you will receive the benefits described below in addition to helping protect land we all love in northern Michigan.

The First Save the Trees

Save the Trees was created in 1990 by a group of young adults concerned about rapid development and its potential negative impact on the natural beauty of the area. Since then Save the Trees has become the premier land protection fundraiser Up North and has raised nearly $900,000.

The First Benefit Committee

Sisters Shannon Smith  and Shelagh Luplow brought together a group of friends and neighbors to establish a fun event to support the land protection efforts of the Conservancy. The group consisted of year-round residents and summer and winter resorters from areas surrounding the Little Traverse Bay (Harbor Springs, Petoskey, and the resort communities of L’Arbre Croche, Menonaqua, Wequetonsing, Harbor Point, Roaring Brook, and Walloon Lake).
